I'll be showing various artworks made during these past two years spent at Kyoto Seika University as a Research Student. The majority of works use the traditional dyeing techniques of katazome and yuzen-zome but there's also some lacquer-ware too! On show I'll have scrolls, a folding screen, fans, a kimono and various other artworks that all depict Australian native birds and plants.
I think that using traditional Japanese techniques to depict the colourful nature of Australia produces unexpected and interesting results. I'd like those who see my work to reconsider what it means for something to be "traditional" or "foreign". Come along and get up close and personal with some of Australia's beautiful parrots and cockatoos!
For those in Kyoto, why not get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather and cherry blossoms and drop by at the same time? Look forward to seeing you there!
I wish you well in your exhibition. Hope there is a lot of interest. For what I have seen, it is beautiful. Congratulation
